Gujarat has more than 16,000 In-village water supply schemes (IVWSS) covering the entire state. SIGMA Foundation was assigned the task of developing a framework for monitoring of key performance parameters of the IVWSSs. The parameters to be monitored and the related indicators to be used were finalized in consultation with officials of WASMO. There were three types of parameters namely, daily, monthly and yearly. A web-based system was developed along with a mobile application to capture data using Android run mobile phone and to also upload the same for being stored and processed in the server. The uploaded data with due analysis is visible in a dashboard for quickly assessing the status and identifying the non-performing IVWSSs based on different parameters as well as combined performance. The system allows generating various reports, making inter-IVWSS comparison for creating competitiveness and providing guidance for specific interventions required for improvement. The system was piloted in a few areas of Kutchh district.
