According to the National Rural Health Mission, to improve and effectively govern the health and sanitation in Gram Panchayat Level, a committee named as Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committee (VHSNC) is required to be formed which will be righteously concerned and responsible for the health and sanitation issues of a village. Previously, Sanitation Committee of Gram Unnayan Samiti used to perform the tasks of the above mentioned committee. But, effective work and justified use of funds could not be exhibited by Gram Unnayan Samiti. Thus, to resolve the detailed issues of formulating proper plans and ideas regarding heath and sanitation, the budgetary concern and its effective implication, Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committee has been formed in every Gram Sansad. The main objective of Village Health Sanitation & Nutrition Committee is to spread awareness among the villagers about health and sanitation and to effectively work to improve heath, sanitation and nutrition of the villagers with strict supervision under the leadership of Gram Panchayat. The Training Module was prepared by SIGMA FOUNDATION with the support of local volunteers of Digambarpur Angikar of Pathar Pratima Block for “Everyone Forever Program 2017” of Water for People.
